Muppim, Huppim, and Ard

How can anyone read through today’s verses with out saying to themselves “I wonder what ever happened to Muppim, Huppim and Ard?” If in your personal studies you run across something about them let me know!

26 The total number of Jacob’s direct descendants who went with him to Egypt, not counting his sons’ wives, was sixty-six. 27 In addition, Joseph had two sons[a] who were born in Egypt. So altogether, there were seventy[b] members of Jacob’s family in the land of Egypt.  Genesis 46:26-27

The Greek version reads seventy five. But here is what happened........

27 Meanwhile, the people of Israel settled in the region of Goshen in Egypt. There they acquired property, and they were fruitful, and their population grew rapidly.  Genesis 47:27

So through blessing Joseph all these years God was putting everything in place to fulfill what he had told Abraham and Jacob in the past. From these seventy we just read about will come the great nation Israel that will out number the Egyptians!

How many people could just seventy of us leave, as legacy, a body of believers by teaching the Good News to our children and people that we cross paths with in life?

Our reading in Genesis will be a cliff hanger this week! Get ready for Job in a few days!

Today’s Readings:
Genesis 45:16-47:27
