Your way or God's way?

Leviticus 10

The Sin of Nadab and Abihu

1 Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu put coals of fire in their incense burners and sprinkled incense over them. In this way, they disobeyed the LORD by burning before him the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. 2 So fire blazed forth from the LORD’s presence and burned them up, and they died there before the LORD.
3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD meant when he said,
   ‘I will display my holiness
through those who come near me.
   I will display my glory
      before all the people.’”
   And Aaron was silent.

God had called Aaron and his sons to be priests. God directed them on the way they should serve him and how. They decided to do it their won way and it cost them their lives.

God has a way he wants us to live. The bible gives us instruction. We have a free will to decide whether we will follow His instruction or not.

Aaron knew that the consequences his own sons suffered were just. That is why he was silent. There was no argument.

What do you think? If you live your life opposed to the way God wants us to live could it cost you your marriage and family?

 Your job?

 Your life?

Are there any eternal consequences?

Or is it as simple as Frank Sinatra sang:

For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way
Yes, it was my way.

“Choose this day who you will serve!”
