Rehoboth-on-the-River
Rehoboth-on-the-River …..I could write a hymn with that!
Yesterday’s reading ended with the following:
27 So Jacob returned to his father, Isaac, in Mamre, which is near Kiriath-arba (now called Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had both lived as foreigners. Genesis 35:27
Today we read that Esau settled in the hill country of Seir.
6 Esau took his wives, his children, and his entire household, along with his livestock and cattle—all the wealth he had acquired in the land of Canaan—and moved away from his brother, Jacob. 7 There was not enough land to support them both because of all the livestock and possessions they had acquired. 8 So Esau (also known as Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir. Genesis 36:6-8
So Jacob and Esau had to settle in different areas because they were to big for the land to support them!
Today I got out my bibles and looked at the maps. Also I searched internet for biblical maps.
If you have time look up the following places to get a visualization of the locations we have been introduced to so far in our reading. Welcome to Bible "Study"!
Hebron, Mamre, Edom, Bethel, Seir, Haran and Beersheba to name a few. Were there any places you could not locate on a map?
Today’s readings:
Genesis 36:1-19
1 Chronicles 1:35-37
Genesis 36:20-30
1 Chronicles 1:38-42
Genesis 36:31-43
1 Chronicles 1:43-2:2
